India’s Map in India’s National Anthem

Jan Gana Mana- The Indian National Anthem is the first stanza of Bharato Bhagya Bidhata(originally composed in Bengali) by Rabindranath Tagore. The time taken in formal recitation of the national anthem is 52 seconds.

The lines of our national anthem:-

Punjaab, Sindhu, Gujarat, Maraatha
Draavid, Uttakal, Banga
Vindhya, Himaachal, Yamuna, Ganga

There have been several major changes in the map of the Indian Subcontinent since then.

At that time the India subcontinent somehow looked like this:

Himalyas in the north

Vidhayachal in Madhya Pradesh,

Prominent rivers of UP-Ganga and Yamuna,

South India known as Dravid Bharat,

The states Maharshtra and Gujarat,

Sindh(now in Pakistan),

Uttakal-old name for Orissa,

Bangal(consisting of the present day West Bengal, Assam, Jharkhand, Bihar),

Punjab(now parted as Pakistan and present day Punjab in India)
